Geoffrey Benzing was born in 1975 and studied art at Wichita Northeast Magnet, Wichita State University, and Hutchison Community College.  Geoff has lived and worked in Lawrence Kansas for nine years and has shown art at many town establishments as well as doing a variety of album, book covers and websites.  Geoff’s work is represented by LaMancha Gallery in Los Angeles, and his work can be seen online at LaManchaGallery.com, GeoffreyBenzing.com, and Benzingart.com.

From the artist: “Animals” is a collection of wildlife paintings that attempts to exaggerate color and patterns to create an animated effect  with complexity.  I used many layers of paint to build up the surface and make a thick and rough surface with heavy brush strokes at the same time trying to keep the outline of the animals sharp.   Animals have been of great interest  to me my whole life and I enjoy expressing  artistic design using animals as subjects.

The Geoffrey Benzing “Animals” Gallery will be on display Jan. 17 through Feb. 10. The Gallery is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The reception will be held on Jan. 19 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
