This February is the 40th anniversary of the February Sisters occupation of Strong Hall here at KU. The occupation was to demand more women faculty and a women’s studies program, among other things. To commemorate this event, the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department along with SUA is bringing activist Angela Davis to speak. Angela Davis emerged as a nationally prominent activist in the 1960s, when she was associated with the Communist Party USA, the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Panther Party.
